I'm so excited to introduce you to our first Rooted & Luved family. Their story is incredible, and it's especially sweet because Peter is my little brother! He has the most amazing wife and precious kiddos! I've asked Lauren to share a little about life lately.

Introduce us to your beautiful family!

We are the Rowes! My name is Lauren and my husband’s name is Peter. Together we have 3 kiddos 3 and under so there is lots of fun, lots of chaos, and not much sleep. Our oldest is our daughter Kate (3), then there is Evie (2), then our youngest and only son, Noah (9 months). We live in CO, love our church family so much, and all the fun that comes with having 3 little kiddos. Our son was born with HLHS and HIE this summer and it has been a wild ride and emotional roller coaster, but the Lord has been so faithful. After 2 open heart surgeries and 4 months in the hospital, we are home and filled with hope over his future. There is no cure and he will need at least one more open heart surgery and most likely lots of other procedures, but we are soaking up every second with all our kiddos.

What has been the most unexpected thing about being a mom?

How much is truly outside of our control and how much motherhood would teach me about myself and about God. It is refining, hard, and the best!

Tell us about one of your favorite family traditions!

We try to take each of our kids on individual dates each month, and although we are far less consistent with this than I would like, it is so sweet and our kiddos enjoy it so much!

How do you find balance in this season?

Lots of grace for imperfect days, changing my expectations of what each day should look like as a stay at home mom, and lastly lots of fun built in! There are so many mundane tasks that need to get done between the house and kids, so many appointments for our high medical needs son, that sometimes we just have to forget about the housework and go to the zoo!

What is a memory you will never forget as a mom?

My two older kiddos meeting their baby brother in the hospital. We were trying to wait until he was more stable and with less scary things attached to him. It took over 3 weeks, but when it was finally time it was the sweetest day.

This was an incredibly hard year for your family, and you’ve encouraged so many by sharing your story. How would you encourage anyone walking an unexpected, scary road right now?

When you are in the middle of the storm, all you can see is the waves, wind, and other threats around you. It feels all consuming and it is. Take rest knowing that Jesus isn’t panicking in the storm, but is ever present and has power over it. Our storm isn’t over, but we are currently sailing less violent seas, and more assured than ever that Jesus is incredibly present.

Thank you to Lauren for sharing a little of her heart with us. To hear more of baby Noah's incredible story, you can visit his Caring Bridge page at the link below.
